What’s the parent commitment and financial responsibility?
It is a big commitment for both the kids and the parents because obviously the parents will need to commit to getting their child to the practices as well as help them with their fundraising. They may need to help with lunches for practices depending on how your director chooses to set that up. Financially you will have the cost of the missions trip that is not raised and the team fees that cover the manual, t-shirt and supplies.
When do we perform?
The first 2 to 3 months are focused on learning new dramas and dances before going out to do any ministry. We do actually refer to it as ministry instead of a performance. Although we are performing for God, we are letting Him use us to minister to others.
Do I have to know how to dance or be in front of other people to speak?
We don’t ask that you know how to do that before being on the team but we will be learning how to do that. Every person isn’t good at everything so it’s ok if you are stronger in one area than another that’s where we will use you.
What if I’ve never prayed for someone?
A willing spirit is all we ask of you. We will teach you how to do that and you’ll be so excited the first time that you do.
How will this help the kids in my ministry to grow?
PEAK’s purpose is to disciple kids. So basically everything that they do in the program will help them to develop a deeper relationship with Christ as they also learn about their divine purpose. When they truly know who they are in Christ there is no limit to what they can become in Him.
How long does the program last?
It does have 3 separate years that each have a different focus. Each year can run between 6-10 months depending on your own goals and church needs. Typically you’ll want to give yourself the first 3 to 6 months to train your team and the next 4 months and on can be focused on ministry however you will still be training as you continue thru this time frame.
What age does the program work for?
This is designed for 9-12 year olds. A younger child would have difficulty with the level of expectations however, it has been used with older kids and teens successfully.
How does this benefit our church?
PEAK is a great outreach representation of the local church reaching the lost in your community. These kids will learn how to share their testimony with others and pray for them for Salvation and for healing. The relationship with Christ as well as the skills developed thru this program will transfer into mature followers of Christ in your Youth program and then in your adult leaders. The immediate results will be lives won for the Kingdom and a strong leadership team in your children’s department. The long term results would be mature adults - Loving God, Loving others and serving the world.
